Steph Curry explains viral Nate Robinson tweet

Steph Curry, like the rest of the internet, had no problem poking a little fun at Nate Robinson’s expense over the weekend.

The former NBA player quickly became a meme after he was knocked out in two rounds in his celebrity boxing match with Jake Paul on Saturday night. But among the first to pile on the jokes was his former teammate in Curry.

Curry was pumped up for Robinson, tweeting words of encouragement to him prior to the fight. Robinson responded to Curry, “Gonna shock the world bro.”

Not long after Robinson was knocked out cold by Paul, ending the short-lived fight, Curry replied “I see no lies," basically mocking Robinson for shocking the world for all the wrong reasons.

Apparently, it was all in good fun.

“One thing about Nate he can dish out the trash talk and he can take it,” Curry said Monday on “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.”

“I know, based on how the whole event went – it wasn’t supposed to be that entertaining but it was -- for Nate, he is the most resilient dude in the world,” Curry continued. “One person I know who is gonna find that comeback situation – I don’t know if he’ll be back in the ring – but whatever he wants to do I’m bettin’ on Nate. We can have as much fun on Twitter, throw jabs – no pun intended – and Nate will be in good shape.”

Robinson was not the only NBA player who got embarrassed in a sport other than his own recently. Curry himself competed in a golf tournament alongside Peyton Manning where they squared off against Phil Mickelson and Charles Barkley.

Barkley, notorious for his cringeworthy golf swing, appeared to make some improvements and beat Curry.

Still, Curry tried to play it off that it wasn’t as bad.

“For me, it’s Nate [who had it worse],” he said. “I didn’t get physically harmed. In terms of pure embarrassment, we’re both putting ourselves out there but losing to Chuck in anything – as much trash he’s talked about me and our team – that hurt. That hurt. I’m gonna have to find him on a course somewhere and redeem myself.”
