Tom Brady, Bucs highlight NFL tripleheader for Saturday after Christmas

NFL fans will be getting a nice little gift the day after Christmas.

The league will have a Saturday tripleheader for the second consecutive year this season and announced the three Week 16 matchups that will take place on Dec. 26.

It also means the NFL will have four consecutive days of games as the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings are scheduled to play on Christmas Day.

Here is what the Saturday tripleheader looks like:

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Detroit Lions: 1 p.m. ET, NFL Network

San Francisco 49ers at Arizona Cardinals: 4:30 p.m. ET, Amazon Prime Video and Twitch

Miami Dolphins at Las Vegas Raiders: 8:15 p.m. ET, NFL Network

With the posteason expanding to seven teams in each conference, each of these games could have potential playoff implications.

Tom Brady and the Bucs will kick things off against a Lions team that just fired its head coach following a Thanksgiving Day loss to the Texans. The Bucs could very well be playing for a shot at the NFC South, or at the very least, seeding for the wild card.

The NFC West has arguably been the best division in football this year and one of, if not both, the Cardinals and Niners could be vying for a playoff spot in that game.

The tripleheader includes with the Dolphins and Raiders, two teams that could potentially be competing against one another for one of the wild-card berths in the AFC. It will also be Dolphins rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s first primetime game.

As all things with the NFL, the schedule is fluid due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The league already had to postpone its primetime Thanksgiving game between the Steelers and Ravens due to an outbreak, so it's worth keeping in mind that scheduling can change at a moment's notice.
