In the second quarter of Sunday’s game between the Saints and 49ers, it appeared as if Kentavius Street sacked Drew Brees for a loss.

Somehow, a flag was thrown on the play and roughing the passer was called.

Replays showed what appeared to be a clean sack of Brees. Street did not lead with his head nor make helmet-to-helmet contact.

What likely happened, is that the officials thought that Street may have intentionally driven the quarterback into the ground and landed on top of him with his weight. Except he did not even do that, either.

Niners cornerback Richard Sherman, watching the game from home due to injury, pointed out that Street actually landed to the side and there was nothing he could really do to otherwise avoid it.

Sherman, fellow injured teammate Solomon Thomas and others chimed in with their disapproval of the call on social media.

Whatever the case, Brees was definitely shook up a bit during the first half of the game and was replaced at halftime with backup Jameis Winston.
