Fantasy Football: Streaming Quarterbacks Week 3

The hidden benefit to streaming quarterbacks is what it means for the rest of your starting lineup.

If you opted to wait until the final rounds of your fantasy draft to select one, it means your roster is likely loaded with options at running back and wide receiver. If you selected one earlier and need help starting lineup help, feel confident about trading your starting quarterback for a running back or wide receiver.

That goes double this week if you can pull it off to the team that has Drew Brees or Ben Roethlisberger, as both suffered Week 2 injuries.

Through two weeks, my streaming quarterback options are averaging a respectable, 16.5 fantasy points per game. Our top option each week is averaging 23.4 fantasy points per game, which would be QB5 on the season.

Each week, I will recommend three streaming QB options you can pick up and start in both your normal, redraft fantasy leagues as well as daily fantasy lineups, among those QBs rostered in less than 45 percent of leagues and track the results throughout the season.

Josh Allen (BUF) - vs. Cincinnati Bengals - 30% rostered

Third week in a row that Allen makes the streamers column, as his ownership still has only ticked up another 10 percent from Week 2. That’s the other added benefit of streaming quarterbacks; you might just fall into an every-week starter. Allen is shaping up into that.

A Week 1 performance with 16 fantasy points despite four turnovers foreshadowed a Week 2 bounce back against the Giants. Allen delivered with 22.2 fantasy points. Last season’s end-of-year fantasy hero should post another good game Week 3 against the Bengals, a team that has allowed more than 19 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks through two weeks.

Jameis Winston (TB) - vs. New York Giants - 42.9 % rostered

Winston is off to a slow start this season, failing to reach 15 fantasy points in Week 1 and 2. However, we would have no quarterbacks to choose from in streaming if we only chose proven options. The strategy is built on matchups, and the Giants are a great one. New York has allowed 27.8 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks through two weeks.

Jimmy Garoppolo (SF) - vs. Pittsburgh Steelers - 24.3% rostered

Jimmy GQ looked much better in Week 2, posting 22.7 fantasy points against Cincinnati and gets another solid match-up at home against Pittsburgh. No Ben Roethlisberger should lead to more time on the field for the 49ers offense against a Steelers defense that has allowed more than 24 fantasy points per game to QBs through two weeks.
