Traditional quarterback scoring in fantasy football is at an all-time high.
So much so, that when I wrote this weekly quarterback streamers column two years ago, the average fantasy points per game of my picks each week among quarterbacks owned in fewer than 50 percent of leagues equated to having the QB6 for the season.
The top scoring pick each week from my column averaged more fantasy points per week than the QB1 for the season.
In 2012, the 12 quarterbacks averaged 16 fantasy points per week. Last season, 21 quarterbacks averaged 16 fantasy points per week.
Simply put, you can now win in fantasy football without even drafting a quarterback. If a team in your league wants to trade you a stud RB, WR or TE for your QB, do it.
Each week, I will recommend three streaming QB options you can pick up and start in both your normal, redraft fantasy leagues as well as daily fantasy lineups, among those QBs rostered in fewer than 45 percent of ESPN leagues and track the results throughout the season.

Jimmy Garoppolo (SF) - at Buccaneers - 28.7% rostered
The Bucs allowed 20.9 fantasy points per week to opposing quarterbacks a year ago, fourth most in the league. This game is projected at sportsbooks to be a shootout as well, with an over/under at 50.5, giving the 49ers an implied team total of 24.5-25.5 points. All good signs for a streaming quarterback candidate. It’s a bit of a leap of faith, given Jimmy G missed most of last season with a torn ACL, but the conditions are ripe for points in this game.
Josh Allen (BUF) - at New York Jets - 20.7% rostered
From Week 12 through the end of the season, Josh Allen was the top-scoring QB in fantasy football. He won money people fantasy championships in 2018. He opens the season on the road in New York against a Jets defense that allowed the sixth-most points to fantasy quarterbacks a year ago at 19.8 per game. Allen’s rushing ability should also provide a stable floor as well, as he rushed for more than 90 yards in four of his last six games in 2018.
Nick Foles (JAX) - vs. Kansas City Cheifs - 9.7% rostered
The Eagles Super Bowl hero has a new home, and a fantastic Week 1 match-up for fantasy scoring. Kansas City allowed the fifth-most points to fantasy quarterbacks a year ago at 19.9 per game, and this match-up has the highest over/under of any game to start the season at sportsbooks at 51.5. Even as a 3.5-point underdog, that still gives Foles’ offense a projection of 24 points scored in this game.
