Already a reality star and high-profile DJ, Pauly D can now add fantasy football sharp to his career resume. The 40-year-old of Jersey Shore fame took down the prestigious “Reignmakers” contest on DraftKings over the weekend, netting $10,000 for charity by outscoring Danish model Josephine Skriver, rapper G-Eazy, former Chicago Bears defensive tackle Spice Adams and Bengals alum Chad Johnson. Nobody was even close to Pauly D, who outscored second-place finisher Skriver by almost 30 fantasy points (167.14-140.44).
The previous week’s Reignmakers crown went to rapper Jermaine Dupri, who defeated runner-up Nate Burleson of NFL Network by a comfortable 150.1-133.62 margin. Model and former Patriots cheerleader Camille Kostek (girlfriend of Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski), comedian Rob Riggle and country star Luke Bryan rounded out the Week 1 Reignmakers field.
Known more for his tattoos and blowout haircut than his DFS prowess, Pauly D earned rave reviews for his lineup with many praising his choice to start 49ers tight end Jordan Reed, who corralled two touchdowns in place of injured starter George Kittle. Pauly D’s other starters included Kyler Murray, Ezekiel Elliott, Derrick Henry, Davante Adams, Diontae Johnson, Corey Davis, Jonathan Taylor and Tampa Bay’s defense. While Henry and Adams were disappointments, at least relative to their exorbitant DK salaries, the Rhode Island native struck gold with Murray, who erupted for three touchdowns (one passing, two rushing) in the win over Washington. Taylor, the recipient of 28 Week 2 carries, was another shrewd pickup by Pauly D, whose winning score of 167.14 stands as the highest Reignmakers total of 2020.
Pauly D’s win was for a good cause too, raising $10,000 for St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Maybe we’ll get him on the world-famous RADIO.COM Fantasy Football Show to share his picks next week.
