While the NFL tests for and prohibits a massive array of different substances, including dozens of anabolic steroids, illegal stimulants and growth hormones, one drug does not appear on the list.

That's right. No where on the five-page banned substances list is there a mention of sildenafil, known more popularly by the brand name Viagra. And why would it be? Yes, it could be considered a performance-enhancing drug, but it doesn't relate to performance on the football field at all. But apparently, two-time All-Pro wide receiver Chad Johnson decided to take Viagra before every game.

When one of his followers asked why he took Viagra, the crude humor we've come to expect from his highly entertaining Twitter page came out.

His 4.57 40-yard dash time at the 2001 NFL Combine certainly wasn't the fastest we've ever seen, but maybe he grew faster as a result of his Viagra usage.

Believe it or not, there has been speculation in the past regarding the use of Viagra as a PED. Another former All-Pro receiver, Brandon Marshall, once said in an interview that he had "heard of some crazy stories... guys using like Viagra, seriously," in order to facilitate blood flow (via Josh Katzowitz of CBS Sports). Bears linebacker Lance Briggs commented on Marshall's rumor, joking that there may be "a lot of dangerous boners on the field," as a result (via Marc Sessler of NFL.com).

You can't make this stuff up. This is the type of content we need to get through these difficult times -- note I used "difficult," and not "hard."

Johnson went on to divulge information about his sex life, though as part of a different thread from the Viagra tweet.

Some more great Chad Johnson content is available in the videos below and at the top of the page, when the wide receiver paired with RADIO.COM Sports during Super Bowl LIV.
