Odell Beckham Jr. channels inner Dikembe Mutombo with pass breakup

It is not every day you see a receiver celebrating a pass breakup, but that is indeed what Odell Beckham Jr. did in Sunday’s game against the Washington Football Team, and for good reason.

On a first-and-10 play from around midfield, Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield escaped pressure and saw Beckham for a big play downfield, but underthrew his intended target.

Washington safety Troy Apke appeared to have the interception in his hands when Beckham slammed the ball out of his hands from behind him.

The Browns receiver then jogged away from the play wagging his finger a la Dikembe Mutombo.

It was not just impressive athleticism and instincts displayed by Beckham, but it also proved to be a crucial play, too.

Instead of turning the ball over, the Browns were able to march down the field to complete a 13-play drive that resulted in a field goal to put them on the board with the team already trailing 7-0.

While Beckham is there to be an offensive weapon, perhaps he can try his hand in the secondary if things don’t quite work out.
