Once again, Odell Beckham Jr. has become a focal point of NFL trade rumors, but there does not appear to be any merit to the speculation.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Cleveland Browns had not had any plans or discussions this season to trade the star wide receiver.
Schefter’s source told him that it was “totally not true.”
Speculation first surfaced after Cleveland’s Week 1 loss to the Ravens – a 38-6 blowout in which Beckham had just three receptions on 10 targets for 22 yards.
Beckham bounced back in Thursday night’s 35-30 win over the Bengals, hauling in four catches for 74 yards, including a 43-yard touchdown catch.
The 27-year-old is in his second season with Cleveland since the New York Giants traded him during the offseason last year. Despite his talent and star power, Beckham has not had a Pro Bowl season since 2016 and is coming off a year of career lows.
Questions also surfaced about Beckham and quarterback Baker Mayfield’s chemistry following the Week 1 loss, but Mayfield lauded his receivers following Week 2’s victory.
“I thought we made the most of our playmakers’ abilities,” he said. “I’m surrounded by talent. I want to get the ball in their hands.”
