Did Tom Brady not know it was 4th down?

By WEEI 93.7

This was very unlike the Tom Brady Patriots fans had become accustomed to.

Not only wasn't the Buccaneers' quarterback able to lead his team to a game-winning touchdown after getting the ball with 1:13 remaining and Tampa Bay down by just a point in Chicago, but the punctation to Brady's night was particularly unexpected.

After throwing an incomplete pass on fourth down with 33 seconds remaining, ending Tampa Bay's hopes, Brady could be seen holding up four fingers seemingly gesturing that his team had another down.

But the final incomplete pass was a fourth down play, with the Bucs needing six yards for a first down at their own 41 yard-line with 42 seconds remaining and no timeouts.

When asked after the game if Brady understood it was fourth down when making the final pass Tampa Bay head coach Bruce Arians said, "He knew."

Chicago would end up with the 20-19 win over the Bucs, with Brady finishing going 25-for-41 for 253 yards and one touchdown.
