If 42-year-old Tom Brady wants to make fun of anyone for being old, there’s an increasingly small list of players still in the NFL for him to pick on.
So, for Halloween, he went back to the well of his greatest on-field rivalry one more time.
Brady himself dressed as a stormtrooper. More notable was the fact that he posed with a skeleton that was wearing a Peyton Manning Indianapolis Colts jersey:
Though Manning has been retired since the conclusion of the 2015 season, at 43, he’s just over 16 months older than Brady. Brady, of course, won his record sixth Super Bowl title last season, and his New England Patriots will enter a Sunday Night Football showdown with the Baltimore Ravens this weekend with an 8-0 record.
Manning and Brady took turns breaking individual records at the height of their rivalry. Manning, while playing for the Colts, set a new NFL record with 49 touchdown passes in 2004. Brady broke that three seasons later, as he recorded 50 touchdown passes in 2007. Manning took his own record back as a member of the Denver Broncos in 2013, when he tossed 55 touchdown passes. After reclaiming his touchdown pass record, Manning joked that Brady would probably break his new record the next season.
While Manning’s Broncos defeated Brady’s Patriots the final time the two met - in the 2015 AFC Championship Game - Brady finished their rivalry with an 11-6 edge in head-to-head matchups. Brady, of course, also has won four more Super Bowl titles (to this point) than Manning retired with.
