Weaver held the same position under Doug Marrone with the Buffalo Bills since 2013.
The year before, Weaver was an assistant defensive line coach under Rex Ryan with the New York Jets.
Weaver had played for Ryan with the Baltimore Ravens, and calls him a huge influence in his career as both a player and coach.
But Weaver got his start coaching under Urban Meyer, as a graduate assistant at Florida in 2010.
Ten years later, Weaver is making the transition from position coach to coordinator, something he's been preparing for since his time at Florida.
"I met with Coach Meyer, Urban Meyer, who’s been another influence on me," Weaver said Wednesday on a conference call. "I've known Urban Meyer since 1996, 97. When he found out I had gotten this role he said, ‘Weave, you're out of the suggestion business and you're into the decision business.' Those words carried a lot of weight to me. So, that's probably been the biggest transition, I just know that I have the final say and I'm always going to try to do what's best for the team.”
