MMA legend Conor McGregor is again facing legal issues outside his native Ireland.

The former UFC star was arrested and released in Corsica on charges of attempted sexual assault, according to TMZ Sports.

The announcement came from French officials, the tabloid said.

A Corsican court official confirmed the arrest, the French wire service AFP reported.

"Following a complaint filed on September 10 denouncing acts that could be described as attempted sexual assault and sexual exhibition, Mr. Conor Anthony Mac Gregor was the subject of a hearing by the gendarmerie services,” prosecutors said.

McGregor's lawyers denied the charges, TMZ reported.

"Conor McGregor vigorously denies any accusations of misconduct. He has been interviewed and released."

The specifics of the allegations were unclear.

McGregor has been "sailing around the Mediterranean on his yacht recently" with fiancee Dee Devlin, according to TMZ, and has posted a series of photos on social media suggesting as much.

The 32-year-old has had previous legal brushes in the US, pleading guilty to his role in a melee at Barclays Center in Brooklyn in 2018, though he avoided jail time in that case. He was also arrested for felony robbery for allegedly taking a man's cell phone at Miami hotel in 2019, TMZ said.
