HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610) -- Russell Westbrook is expected to miss the first few games of the playoffs next week with a strained quadriceps muscle, according to the Houston Chronicle.

The Rockets face the Oklahoma City Thunder, from whom they traded Westbrook for Chris Paul last offseason, in the first round of the NBA playoffs.

But Westbrook is sidelined through the Rockets’ final seeding game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday.

Westbrook reportedly woke up sore on Wednesday and an MRI revealed a strained quad.

He played in Tuesday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs and sat out Wednesday’s game against the Indiana Pacers.

In the four seeding games Westbrook’s played in, he’s averaging 24.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game.
