HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610) -- Jordan Akins made some progress this week, but the Texans’ tight end will be a game time decision against the Titans on Sunday, according to interim head coach Romeo Crennel.
Akins entered the concussion protocol after he was hit in the head by Vikings safety Harrison Smith on Oct. 4. Akins is also nursing an ankle injury.
The third-year tight end, who has emerged as one of Deshaun Watson’s favorite targets in the passing game this season, has been limited in practice this week and is listed as questionable for Sunday.
“Yeah, he’s a guy that can change the game for sure and do a lot of different things,” Watson said of Akins earlier this week. “Of course, we want him out there, but we want to make sure he’s healthy and he’s getting back when he needs to get back and he’s feeling very, very well. We believe in (Darren) Fells. We believe in Pharaoh (Brown). Those two guys are going to come in and do their job and play at a high level also.”
