AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Ahead of re-opening its campuses following a week of remote learning, Austin ISD will offer drive-thru rapid COVID-19 testing for students and staff this week.

The district switched to 100% remote learning this week to help minimize the spread of COVID-19 after the Thanksgiving holiday. Campuses are expected to re-open for on-campus learning on December 7.

Testing will be offered on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday this week at the following sites:

  • Burger Stadium
  • Dobie Middle School
  • Mendez Middle School
  • Navarro Early College High School
  • Northeast Early College High School
  • Travis Early College High School

The testing sites will be open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.

Anyone in the AISD community who is showing symptoms of COVID-19, have had close contact with someone who has tested positive for or is showing symptoms of COVID-19, and anyone who recently traveled for Thanksgiving should seek out a test. A signed consent form, a student or employee ID, and a face covering are required. An online signup form is available here.

In addition to on-campus AISD students and staff, a limited number of tests are available for other household members through Austin Public Health. Those tests will be available at Burger Stadium and Northeast Early College High School. You need to register by Monday, November 30 at 5 p.m.
