HAYS COUNTY (Talk1370.com) -- Hays County officials say they've identified two additional cases of COVID-19, bringing the county total to 9 positive cases as of 4 p.m. on March 24.

All of the positive cases are adults. One new case is a Buda resident, while health department officials have not yet interviewed the other case.

The Buda resident and another of the previously identified positive cases both live in households with ties to Hays CISD's Carpenter Hill Elementary School. Health officials say they believe the persons who tested positive were not on the campus prior to spring break; however, Hays CISD has notified parents and employees out of an abundance of caution. All students and staff should monitor themselves for symptoms until March 27.

Because of HIPAA laws, additional information about patients is not allowed to be shared.
