The Capitals were just soaking in the scene at Tuesday's Stanley Cup championship celebration, when Alex Ovechkin called for a stagehand to cut the music.

Ovi had one more message to deliver to the massive crowd gathered on the National Mall, and to the countless television viewers watching from home. Mumford & Sons would have to... wait.

The Conn Smythe winner wanted to tell everyone that, even though they had many doubters heading into the 2017-18 NHL season, the Capitals never doubted themselves.

"Before the year, I said... not me say, just us saying: 'We're not gonna be f****ng suck this year!' We're the Stanley Cup champions! Yahhhhhhhhhh!"
