Junkies: Wall's effort is 'embarrassing'

The Wizards got smoked by the Rockets om Wednesday, 136-118.

However, the lack of effort at times from Washington's John Wall drew the ire of The Sports Junkies.

"He's been known to do this," J.P. Flaim said Thursday on 106.7 The Fan. "He stands around all the time when he doesn't have the ball in his hand."

"It's classic John Wall," Eric Bickel said.

One clip of Wall's offensive lack of movement was quite jarring.

This lead Chad Dukes to wonder if Wall is squandering his talent.

"Do you guys ever get hostile when you see talent being squandered?" Dukes said. "He has the ability to be a top-10 player in the league and when you see him (in this video)... I think a lot of people are going to find it funny. But it's rather galling when you think of the commitment the franchise made and the fact that he has the ability that he does."

Bickel called it "hilarious in an embarrassing kind of way."

The Wizards' effort on defense wasn't any better.

“We lacked effort a lot. That’s what I noticed so far,” Trevor Ariza said

The Rockets made an NBA record 26 three-pointers and shot 55.3 percent from the floor.

“They made shots on everybody. That’s what they do. You gotta change it up. Don’t give them the daily diet of the same thing," head coach Scott Brooks said after the game. "We tried mixing it up. Hot players making tough shots. Some nights are gonna be like that”
Of Houston's 85 shots Wednesday, 60 of them were uncontested, per NBA's Second Spectrum data.

Thirty-two games down, 50 games remaining in the 2018-19 season.
