Nationals-Mets: Juan Soto officially returns to Nats' lineup

After an ill-timed positive COVID-19 test on Opening Day, Juan Soto officially returns to the Nationals lineup on Wednesday.

Dave Martinez announced Soto would be in Wednesday's lineup against the Mets, batting cleanup, to the delight of Nats fans everywhere.

Soto first rejoined his teammates last weekend, receiving clearance to return to work from the D.C. Department of Health on Saturday, but with the Nats suddenly having the weekend off and after an extended period without seeing live pitching, Martinez elected to ease Soto back into the lineup.

Soto has insisted he believes his positive COVID-19 test yielded a 'false positive,' that he had never actually contracted the virus. Fortunately, having taken safety precautions seriously, the Nationals haven't had another positive test result since Soto's on July 23.

Dave Martinez says the Nationals have had no positive coronavirus test results since Juan Soto's came back on July 23. It's worth noting that they have yet to travel aside from one bus trip to Baltimore before the regular season began.
