Wizards sign 2nd-round pick Admiral Schofield

The Washington Wizards used to eschew second-round draft picks. But not this year.

After not even having a pick, this year they drafted and have now signed the 42nd overall pick Admiral Schofield to a three-year deal, according to multiple media reports.
Schofield, a 6-foot-5 forward out of Tennessee, was a prospect Wizards head coach Scott Brooks really liked.
"The two things that I really love about him are his athleticism and his toughness," Brooks told The Sports Junkies after the draft. "He brings it. He's a strong kid, he's a strong athlete."

"We're gonna have him in the summer league and develop him all summer and he's gonna have a great chance to make the team. That remains to be seen, but like I said those two guys (Hachimura and Schofield) are gonna add to our team, add to our culture, and add to the program in a very positive way," Brooks added.

During summer league play, Schofield has averaged 8 points and 3.8 rebounds in 21 minutes of play while shooting 9 for 23 from the field.

Schofield may still not make the Wizards roster at the start after a busy offseason by the Wizards front office.
