Game 5 in the NLDS used to be a nightmare-inducing phrase for Washington Nationals fans.

That all has changed. One game on Oct. 9, 2019, has changed the fortunes of the Nationals franchise and the lives of every Nats fan.

Thanks to the heroics of Anthony Rendon, Juan Soto, Howie Kendrick, and the entire roster and coaching staff, the Nationals are four wins away from the World Series. Let that sink in.

The World Series is the next goal. And it is realistic.

Of course, it almost didn't happen. The Los Angeles Dodgers thought they won on a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 9th by Will Smith. Now their premature celebration is a video Nats fans can savor.

In the 10th inning, well, you know the story by now, so here are the videos that tell the tale of how the Nationals made the NLCS.

Howie Kendrick at 36 this season: 17 HRs and 62 RBIs .344/.395/.572 for a .966 OPS, 142 OPS+ and 146 wRC+. And then this. Unreal for #Nats. pic.twitter.com/DqkV98wxlp

Despite her negativity at times, one Nats fan had a pretty good view of the action, too.
