John Wall ruptured his Achilles tendon while recovering from season-ending heel surgery and is expected to miss an additional 12 months, the Wizards announced Tuesday.

Wall slipped and fell in his home, the Wizards say, after developing an infection in the incision from his initial surgery on Jan. 8. That surgery was a debridement and repair of a Haglund's deformity and chronic Achilles tendon injury in his left heel, and ended Wall's season with an expected recovery time of six to eight months.

Wall was diagnosed with a ruptured left Achilles during a procedure by the Wizards team orthopedist to clean out the infection.
