Jordan Reed and Jonathan Allen returned to practice Wednesday, a welcomed progression for two of the most influential players on the Redskins.

Their absence has been painfully obvious on each side of the ball, with Washington's pass rush being significantly stymied since Allen went out with a sprained knee in the first half of a Week 1 loss in Philadelphia, and the offense operating at a less dynamic level than it otherwise would if Reed were available. Reed suffered a concussion in the Redskins' third preseason game and remains in concussion protocol.
The Redskins placed cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie on Injured Reserve and signed linebacker Noah Spence on Wednesday. Spence, 25, was a second-round draft pick in 2016 and played three seasons for the Buccaneers, before being waived by Tampa as a final roster cut in August. He's registered 34 combined tackles – three for a loss – and 6.5 sacks in the NFL.

I guess you credit DRC for playing through pain that eventually ended his season but man it was rough for him on Sunday. He gave up a ton of yards.Getting Dunbar/Moreau back would be massive for this team.

Rodgers-Cromartie, 33, suffered tore a ligament in his ankle, according to The Athletic's Ben Standig. Rodgers-Cromartie was noticeably limping on the field during Sunday's loss to Dallas.

Updates from Jay Gruden's podium session:

“We’ll see” Gruden says on Noah Spence’s availability for Monday. Depends on how he looks and McKinzy’s availability. We didn’t see him at practice, but no official injury report today.

Gruden talking like Fabian Moreau will be back. He was closer than Dunbar today and obviously practiced where QD did not.
