Redskins' Tress Way finally makes Pro Bowl

By 106.7 The Fan

The Washington Redskins had two players named to the Pro Bowl roster Tuesday with punter Tress Way finally getting the nod for the first time in his career.

Way, who is the Skins only starter in the game, was joined on the roster by reserve guard Brandon Scherff, safety Landon Collins, who was named a first alternate, and defensive end Matt Ioannidis, who was named a fourth alternate.

The Redskins punter leads the NFL with 49.4 yards per punt and is eighth in the league with 26 punts downed inside the 20. Scherff, the fifth overall pick by the Redskins in 2015, is making his third trip to the Pro Bowl after going in 2016 and 2017. The Pro Bowl will be played in Orlando on Jan. 26.

I know he's missed some games, but Quinton Dunbar belongs on that list. He's had a really good year and has been absolutely sensational when he's been on the field.Obviously McLaurin should get an honorable mention too, but QB play/carousel has kept his numbers down a bit.

Collins, who signed with the Redskins in the offseason from the New York Giants, made the pro bowl each of the last two seasons. In his first year with the Skins, he has tallied 111 tackles (74 solo) with eight tackles for loss and 1 forced fumble and one sack. Ioannidis, a fifth-round draft pick by Washington in 2016, has 56 tackles (36 solo) with 8.5 sacks, 20 QB hurries, 15 QB hits, and 10 tackles for loss.

Of course, the Redskins also placed Scherff (along with WR Trey Quinn and CB Jimmy Moreland) on the Injured Reserve List for the rest of the season just hours before the Pro Bowl announcement.

Major #Redskins news as RG Brandon Scherff’s season is over. He, CB Jimmy Moreland and WR Trey Quinn are placed on IR.It’s possible Scherff has played his last snap in Washington. It’s very possible he moves on this off-season if the team doesn’t franchise tag him.
