Report: Redskins still not interested in trading Trent Williams

The Washington Redskins are starring down the NFL trade deadline and a disgruntled Trent Williams and the response is the same: Not interested.

Yes, even after the Jacksonville Jaguars got a pair of first-round draft picks for wantaway corner Jalen Ramsey in a deal with the Los Angeles Rams, the Redskins still seem to be unbothered by the looming deadline.

MMQB senior NFL Reporter Albert Breer tweeted Wednesday morning in relation to Williams' trade value, "asking price isn't high, because there really hasn't been an asking price. Teams I've spoken with that inquired have been stonewalled, told he's not available."
At the press conference following the firing of head coach Jay Gruden, team president Bruce Allen said, "really, there's been no dialogue with any other team."

And when asked if the team would consider trading him, he said: "No, not at this time."

106.7 The Fan's Craig Hoffman reported last week Allen's comments were more than just public posturing and Allen "told Trent a few weeks ago that he is going to have to sit the year and they would explore trading him in January."

Hoffman also reported a source told him Williams intends to follow through on his holdout and has no plans to play for the Redskins through the remainder of the regular season.

Of course, Allen said on the eve of the season the left tackle would return to the Redskins this season.
There were reports (or rumors) of a deal being made with the Cleveland Browns which seem unfounded at the moment.

From what I can tell nothing has changed in forever. Didn't chase the report from Cleveland accordingly. So many aspects of this drama from both sides make little sense, but until legit further notice that's where things stand.

Just know: Bruce Allen makes the deals. And he’s surprised some there before. Why I added “to their knowledge”. But only can go by what I’m told/hear. if something happens would be a surprise to many.

Later on Tuesday, Browns general manager John Dorsey did indicate he had conversations with Allen about Williams, but all indications are the Skins aren't interested.

Q: Have you spoken to Bruce Allen lately?Dorsey: We've had a few conversations.

Dorsey asked if he’s spoken to Washington team president Bruce Allen: "We’ve had a few conversations.” (LT Trent Williams)… When Williams was referenced… “It takes two to tango."

A trade still seems unlikely and reconciliation seems even less likely. Of course, all that could change before the Oct. 29 trade deadline.

Odds are it won't. But who knows with these Redskins.
