The Patriots got off to a fast start in Seattle Sunday night, as Devin McCourty picked off a deflected pass on the third play from scrimmage and returned it 43 yards for a touchdown.
McCourty made it clear what was on his mind as he scored the opening touchdown: teammate James White.
McCourty could be heard on the NBC broadcast yelling, “Two-eight, we love you, bro!” after scoring -- “two-eight” being White’s No. 28.
White’s father was reportedly killed in a car crash earlier Sunday, and his mother, who was also in the car, is reportedly in critical condition.
NBC’s Michele Tafoya reported on the broadcast that Patriots owner Robert Kraft offered to fly White to Florida, but that White has elected to fly back with the team.
White is inactive for Sunday night’s game.
