The Philadelphia Eagles lost one of the best games of the regular season Sunday, falling to the Arizona Cardinals, 33-26. But while an unfathomable touchdown catch from DeAndre Hopkins probably should be the takeaway, it's hard not to focus on how impressive Jalen Hurts was in his second NFL start.
Hurts - a rather shocking second-round selection by the Eagles in the 2020 NFL Draft - threw for 338 yards and three touchdowns in Week 15. What's more, the former Oklahoma star added in 63 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Certainly, Howie Roseman and the Eagles have their work cut out in figuring out how to proceed with Carson Wentz (and his contract) this offseason, especially if they hope to build a roster that can compete in 2021. But through his first two NFL starts, Hurts has five touchdown passes to just one interception, and he's run for 188 yards.
It's unclear exactly how we'll arrive at it, but social media seems to believe that Hurts has shown enough over the last two weeks to start for the rest of the 2020 season, and open 2021 at the No. 1 spot on the Eagles depth chart:
