With Washington VP of Player Personnel Kyle Smith expected to move on from the organization, four teams are already showing interest in the 36-year-old executive.

According to Chris Russell, who broke the news earlier Friday about Smith's "inevitable" departure, the Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers, Green Bay Packers and Las Vegas Raiders have all expressed interest in Smith's services and are doing their due diligence.

Three of those teams will immediately strike a chord with Washington fans, as they're all coached by former Washington assistants. Sean McVay was Washington's offensive coordinator and with the organization for seven years before leaving in 2017 to coach the Rams. San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan was Washington's OC from 2010 to 2013, and Matt LaFleur — who now coaches the Packers — served as Washington's quarterbacks coach under Shanahan those same years.

Rams

"They don't have an assistant GM," Russell said on The Team 980. "They just lost their director of college scouting to the Detroit Lions, who became their GM."

49ers

Washington just hired San Francisco's VP of Player Personnel, Martin Mayhew, as its new GM and, according to Russell, it looks as though the 49ers could be interested in making a one-for-one swap by hiring Smith to fill that vacancy.

"Normally teams have to grant permission for a lateral move," Russell said. "I was told last night that Washington would not stand in the way."

Raiders

Washington fans may remember having a fleeting moment of joy a few years back when the Raiders fired GM Reggie McKenzie. A flurry of rumors cropped up at the time hinting Jon Gruden may have been interested in reconnecting with then-Washington team president Bruce Allen.

Well, as it turns out, it was all for naught. Just rumors. Sigh.

Except... there's one person on Washington's staff Gruden was looking at, per Russell.

"Jon Gruden [didn't] want Bruce Allen. Jon Gruden and Bruce Allen had a falling out," he said. "Jon Gruden did not trust Bruce Allen."

"There was an executive that he was looking at," he added. "It was Kyle Smith."
