Inactives Week 7 vs. Cowboys: Washington short-handed at WR

In 2020, every matchup between two NFC East teams will be a matchup between two teams struggling to get back on the right track.

And Sunday at FedEx Field when Washington Football Team hosts the Dallas Cowboys will be no exception: Both these teams, each with head coaches in their first season with the club, are adrift and looking to get right.

And both teams have their share of injuries to deal with. (Another thing both teams will have to deal with: rain in the forecast all afternoon.)

Washington, which already had a lack of talent at the wide receiver position, will be down several players who were getting significant time.

Isaiah Wright is out with a shoulder injury and earlier this week rookie WR Antonio Gandy-Golden was sent to the Injured Reserve list due to a hamstring ailment.

In their place, Washington has signed Tony Brown from the practice squad and Jeff Badet, neither of them have in-game NFL experience.

Quarterback Kyle Allen will have to lean on Terry McLaurin, Dontrelle Inman, and the little-used Cam Sims.

Having said all that, there are issues for Washington on the offensive line. Just one week after debuting a brand-new line, Scott Turner’s offense will once again have second-choice players playing starring roles.

Left tackle Geron Christian is inactive due to a knee injury which means Cornelius Lucas is expected to join the line.

Guard Saahdiq Charles, whose NFL debut lasted all of two plays last Sunday against the Giants, was placed on Injured Reserve this week and Wes Schweitzer is expected to remain in the lineup alongside Chase Roullier, Brandon Scherff, and Morgan Moses.

For Dallas, everyone knows QB Dak Prescott is done for the year after sustaining a gruesome leg injury, but the visitors are also very banged up on the offensive line.

The Cowboys entered 2020 hoping to lean on Prescott and a great offensive line to power their offense. But the line has struggled and they will be without two starters: guard Zack Martin (concussion) and tackle Brandon Knight (knee).

This could help Washington who will have Chase Young, Montez Sweat, Daron Payne and Jon Allen looking to control the Cowboys offense stuffing both Ezekiel Elliott and Cowboys QB Andy Dalton.
