Washington Football has reshuffled the bodies on the offensive line.

Rookie Saahdiq Charles will make his NFL debut Sunday against the New York Giants after he was inactive in Washington’s first five games of the season due to a calf injury he had been dealing with since training camp.

Washington will also get right guard Brandon Scherff back in the lineup at right guard, his first playing time since he left the Week 2 loss in Arizona after sustaining a sprained MCL.

This means left guard Wes Martin and right guard Wes Schweitzer have been relegated to the bench.

Washington drafted Charles with the 108th overall pick (4th round) out of LSU. Charles’ long-term future could be at tackle (he was picked just moments after Washington finalized a trade to send Trent Williams to San Francisco), but he will get the start Sunday at guard in place of Wes Martin.

Washington’s offensive line was bullied against the Los Angeles Rams, with Aaron Donald and company tallying eight sacks.

Rivera praised Charles during the week.

"First of all, just a bigger body and a more physical body at guard for us," Rivera told the media Thursday. "I like what Wes Martin does. Wes is a really good puller. He’s good in space. He’s a physical blocker when he’s in space. Watching Saahdiq, Saahdiq at the point of attack is a little bit more stout."

On the defensive side of the ball, head coach Ron Rivera and DC Jack Del Rio have decided veteran linebacker Thoams Davis will be a healthy scratch, as LB Cole Holcomb returns to the lineup since he left Week 1 with an injury.

And the team announced Deshazor Everett is expected to start at free safety in place of Troy Apke.

Tight end Temarrick Hemingway is active for the second-straight week as Marcus Baugh will not play. And, of course, quarterback Dwayne Haskins is inactive again.
