Ex-Wizards Bobby Portis, Trevor Ariza find new homes

Bobby Portis and Trevor Ariza weren't with the Wizards a long time. But it wasn't that good a time, either.
Both Portis and Ariza left the Wizards Sunday night during the opening hours of NBA free agency. According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Portis is joining the Knicks, while Shams Charania of The Athletic reported Ariza is heading to Sacramento to play for the Kings.

Free agent Bobby Portis has agreed to a two-year, $31M deal with the Knicks, agent Mark Bartelstein tells ESPN.

The Wizards also expect to lose Jabari Parker in free agency, according to NBC Sports Washington's Chase Hughes.

Bobby Portis and Jabari Parker are both operating at the start of the free agency with the expectation they will not be returning to the Wizards, @NBCSWashington has learned. Wizards have given them the impression they are focusing on other players.

Ariza played 43 games for the Wizards last season after being acquired from the Suns for Kelly Oubre Jr. and Austin Rivers. Portis and Parker joined Washington in February as part of the trade which sent Otto Porter to the Bulls.

So, in totality, the Wizards traded Otto Porter, Kelly Oubre and Austin Rivers away last season for a 2023 conditional second round pick.Yikes.

It's not all doom and gloom in Wiz Town, however. The team re-signed center Thomas Bryant to a reported three-year deal, and they're still hoping to bring back restricted free agent Tomas Satoransky, too.

But on Sunday night, an already thin Wizards squad got a little thinner.
