Another piece of the puzzle has been added in Tampa Bay for Tom Brady and Co.
The Buccaneers signed running back LeSean McCoy to a one-year deal worth $1 million, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
McCoy, 32, joins Ronald Jones in the Bucs backfield, but McCoy will likely provide a boost in the passing game along with rookie Ke’Shawn Vaughn, who was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list earlier this week.
The veteran running back spent last season with the Kansas City Chiefs, rushing for 465 yards and four touchdowns on 101 carries while catching 28 passes for 181 yards and a touchdown as well.
He saw a significant decrease in playing time as the season progressed and was inactive for the AFC Championship Game and Super Bowl LIV.
McCoy was one of the best running backs in the NFL earlier in his career with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he was a two-time First-Team All-Pro and led the league in rushing with 1,607 yards in 2013.
He put together three more Pro Bowl seasons with the Buffalo Bills – his last coming in 2017 when he rushed for 1,138 yards.
McCoy joins a Tampa team lead by the reunion of Brady and Rob Gronkowski and wide receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin in what should be one of the more entertaining offenses in 2020.
