Americans can’t seem to agree about anything today; not even Girl Scout Cookies.
Justin Timberlake jumped into the fray by sparking a debate on social media as to which of the organization’s seasonal treats - Samoas or Thin Mints - were the superior cookie.
“You know, this one is for the Girl Scouts of America. We support you," the 39-year-old said in an Instagram video, while biting into a Samoa. "Ooh, do we support you!"
While he clearly seemed to be Team Samoa, the “The Other Side” singer attempted to be neutral by giving the other side its proper air time.
“Maybe we should start a survey,” Timberlake said in a second clip. “I know everybody automatically thinks about Thin Mints when they think of Girl Scout cookies.”
After professing his love for coconut and admitting Samoas are his “tip top,” two of his friends could be heard arguing if Thin Mints were “overrated.”
To get out of the contentious situation, Timberlake threw the question out to his over 57 million followers.
"FOOD FOR THOUGHT. Double tap for DOUBLE SAMOAS," he captioned the videos. "Comment for Thin Mints."
“Don’t be silly, Samoas all day, twice on Sunday,” wrote one fan.
“Thin mints FTW,” added another.
While a third through a wrench in the debate by suggesting another option and commented: “Bro are u serious. short bread ALL DAY.”
The poll even got the attention of the Girl Scouts of America, who attempted to diffuse the entire heated argument.
“Thin Mints, Samoas/Caramel deLites, Tagalongs/Peanut Butter Patties… whatever your favorite Girl Scout Cookies is, they are all PACKED with business skills and support female entrepreneurs,” the organization wrote. “Thanks for supporting local Girl Scouts, Justin!!”
Now those are the unifying words America needs and deserves.
Whether you are Team Samoa or Team Thin Mints, just enjoy and everybody wins.
