Though it is still being reported that acclaimed Hollywood filmmaker John Singleton died early today, those reports are being disputed, and in some cases, retracted.
Fox 4, a television news station in Kansas City, Missouri, led the news with an online report of Singleton's alleged death. The media outlet said the following: "The family of director John Singleton told FOX4 film critic Shawn Edwards early Monday that Singleton has died."
The story was beginning to spread around the internet, with many people sending their condolences to the man behind groundbreaking films like "Boyz n the Hood," "Poetic Justic" and more. Singleton also directed Michael Jackson's "Remember the Time" video.
TMZ, which broke the story of Singleton being unresponsive in a coma after a debilitating stroke, is saying that the movie director and writer still lives, although he remains in a coma and seems to still be in a tough situation. "John's publicist tells us the famed director is alive and on life support at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A. We're told John is still in a medically-induced coma and is non-responsive and not getting better."
We will update this story as more confirmed information becomes available. In the meantime, much love to John Singleton and his family.
