Auto N Sider | 2021 Hyundai Veloster N
Eager, Agile, Even Explosive!
Don’t make the mistake of thinking that Hyundai’s new “N” is just a fancy trim package.
While I haven’t driven them all, this Veloster N just might be the hottest hatch that I’ve ever driven.
That’s what light weight + 275 HP will do. That, plus an 8-speed dual clutch automatic that seems to encourage you to give it a nudge so it can downshift two gears and absolutely catapult you forward.
And then there’s the 235 / 35 19” Pirelli P Zero tires and electronic controlled suspension that turn the simple act of steering into a primal joy.
Simply put, if you love to drive, you’ll find a whole lot to like about Hyundai’s new Veloster N.
And if you love to drive, but you’re thinking that Hyundai’s 3-door Veloster might be just a mite small for you…stay tuned.
I think it was a few years ago that I mentioned that both Hyundai and their “Corporate Cousin” KIA had equaled or even surpassed some very well-known European, Japanese and American brands in quality.
Now they want more.
Today they’re taking it a step further…and yes…I’m looking at you, in particular, Germany.
For decades Germany has pretty much been considered the home of quality and high-performance. While they’re still doing a great job, Hyundai wants a piece of the action…and Hyundai’s new “N” shows that they belong on the same field with the big boys.
Want proof? OK. 150+ MPH top end and 0-60 comfortably under 6 seconds…all for $34,745…including transportation. And mileage is rated at 20 city and 27 highway on good ol’ regular gas. Plus you get that long-term Hyundai warranty and three years’ of no-charge maintenance.
Got time for one more cool feature? The “N” on the back of the two front seats lights up. Doesn’t make it go any faster, but it’s a rather attention-getting crowning touch!
Do you still need more? Then stay tuned, as the “N” performance versions will be coming soon to more and more of Hyundai’s lineup.
If I didn’t say it loud enough before…pedal faster, Germany…’cause Hyundai is gainin’ on you!
