CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A resident of Chicago’s Southwest Side got quite a surprise Tuesday, when someone showed up at their door with a check for $25,000.
Deborah Cieply shed tears of joy and disbelief when she won the money in the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes. The Prize Patrol showed up with flowers, balloons, champagne and an oversized check to her home near 55th and Archer.
Cieply says while she played the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes, she was skeptical anyone really won.
She also says the money came just in the nick of time for her.
Cieply said she was worried about how she would pay her next property tax bill, but now she says that’s covered. She also says she'll now be able to get some very nice holiday presents for her family.
