(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Suburban dispensaries are preparing for long lines and lots of questions when recreational pot becomes legal on Wednesday.
Customers won't be able to smell or touch the product inside dispensaries because state law requires marijuana be kept in child-proof containers.
Not to worry, says Brendan Blume, vice president at Green Thumb Industries. They will have plenty of consultants on hand to answer questions when their dispensaries Rise Mundelein and Rise Joliet open at 6 a.m. New Year's Day.
The dispensaries are expecting long lines of customers, so Blume says they'll have food trucks and activities to keep people entertained. They’ll also have ATMs for the mostly cash business.
Extra security is planned for the first days of recreational sales so that people follow the law banning smoking in public.
