(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Vacation destinations have shifted during the pandemic, for some.
Angie Rice, co-founder of Boutique Travel Advisors in Scottsdale, Arizona, says the “dude ranch” has emerged as an effective getaway in the age of COVID-19.
It’s not just about horse-riding, Rice says. There’s also archery, hiking and other activity at the outdoor-rich settings. Al fresco dining options are also offered.
Dude ranches rang from luxury accommodations to less expensive options, but Rice says consider whether the ranch is all-inclusive.
“It’s a fantastic experience. It’s a great way to explore the outdoors, and it’s also a great way for families to be introduced to new types of activities that maybe they’ve never done before,” Rice tells WBBM Newsradio’s Jennifer Keiper on the latest coronavirus edition of the In Depth podcast. “It’s a great alternative for a beach.”
Meantime, tech expert Paul Hochman of Humongous Media disconnected from the grid and took a Colorado River rafting trip through the Grand Canyon with his family.
“It’s one of the best escapes I’ve ever experienced,” he said. “As a tech guy who loves technology and loves all that technology delivers, it was a delight.”
