Police: Driver Abandoned Burning Car To Get To Party

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The driver of an SUV that caught fire was nowhere to be found recently when Riverside police and firefighters showed up to investigate and extinguish the blaze.

Riverside Police on Wednesday posted video of the vehicle fire, which shows an SUV engulfed in flames on the street at 1st and Forest.

“No injuries and fire was put out” by the fire department, police said.

It turns out the driver was not around by the time authorities got to the scene.

“When contacted he stated he had to get to a party,” police said.
