CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Federal and local authorities have released still photos and video from the days of looting and arson in Chicago in hopes that someone will be able to identify the people who set the fires.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Tuesday authorities are looking for at least 18 persons of interest, who may be linked to 53 arsons from May 30 to June 3.

Chicago Police Supt. David Brown said the arsonists were operating on the edges of the otherwise peaceful protests.

“Business owners throughout Chicago saw their hopes and dreams go up in flames with these fires,” he said. “Communities have also suffered. Not all of these businesses will reopen. Many will remain blighted for years to come.”
