(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Illinois Department of Public Health says as many as 3,800 coronavirus test results all linked to one lab have been delayed beyond what officials say is appropriate.
The lab is Reditus, is headquartered in Pekin.
The IDPH two months ago touted a partnership with Reditus Labs, saying it would be opening a testing operation in Bloomington.
Now, the health department says it’s working with Reditus to improve its testing operations because results from nearly 4,000 tests from July 12 to the July 24 have been delayed.
The state says testing sites affected may include Aurora, Bloomington, East St. Louis, Peoria, Rockford, Rolling Meadows and South Holland.
Illinois has ramped up its coronavirus testing by partnering with private and public entities. Testing is considered integral to keeping a handle on the disease and identifying where it’s spreading, but that's only if accurate results can be turned around quickly.
WBBM Newsradio was waiting Friday to hear back from Reditus.
