(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Stocks closed at all-time highs on Thursday after a slew of strong quarterly earnings, solid economic data and word that China will halve tariffs on a basket of U.S. goods put investors in a buying mood.

The S&P 500 gained 11 , the NASDAQ added 63 and the Dow Jones closed up 88 points, settling to 29,379.

Jack Ablin, chief investment officer at Cresset Capital in Chicago, said the days developments were "a formula for a bull market."

He adds that the deadly coronavirus is certainly a tragedy at the human level, but he doesn't see a ton of downside risk for financial markets long-term.
