CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker expects to allow bars and restaurants to reopen for outdoor seating on May 29.
Murphy’s Bleachers, in the shadow of Wrigley Field, is getting its patio ready for appropriately spaced customers.
General Manager Freddy Fagenholz said he’ll have the duct tape ready to mark off an acceptable seating arrangement.
“And measure everything out really good,” he added.
“It’s funny, I ordered this sanitizer machine from Service Sanitation. It’s a thing that holds four squeeze boxes of sanitation. So, I got that last week just to be on the safe side, so if we do open.
“My main concern is people’s safety, my employees’ safety. We don’t want to get anybody sick.”
Fagenholz said ketchup, mustard, salt and pepper will be in packets. Menus will be wiped down with bleach after each customer. And employees will wear gloves.
"It's going to be different for us," he said Wednesday. "But we're looking forward to the challenge. And it's getting the world back together, which is great."
