CARY, ILL. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The owner of a computer retail and repair shop in Cary believes that criminals cased the store before it was burglarized early Saturday morning. He has now released high-quality surveillance video of this weekend's break in.
The thieves didn't make it into Cary Grove Computer's service area but nearly $8,000 in retail electronics were stolen.
The surveillance footage shows three men breaking into the store before taking off in a silver GMC Yukon with a North Carolina plate. The owner told WBBM that police ran the plate, which came back as a rental vehicle.
The owner of Cary Grove Computer said a man fitting the description of suspects caught on video had come into the store prior with a barrage of probing questions.
A similar incident happened last fall when a man came into the business and asked probing questions before the store was robbed a week-and-a-half later in November.
He said the man broke into the store and freaked out when an alarm sounded. While he caught that man on camera the footage was poor quality so he upgraded his security system.
