Governor-Elect JB Pritzker Kicks Off Inaugural Weekend With Day Of Service

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Governor-Elect JB Pritzker kicked off his inaugural weekend with a day of community service events.

His first stop was decorating cookies with young people on the West Side, who planned to give them to homeless families.

Pritzker said the day of service focuses on families.

"This is all about changing the direction of the state of Illinois, and putting the state on the side of working families, " he said.

Inauguration Day is Monday. Among his campaign promises: Balancing the budget.

Pritzker's office planned 13 service opportunities across the state.
