CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- One Off Hospitality, the restaurant group that owns popular Chicago restaurants Big Star, Publican, Avec, The Violet Hour and more is halting takeout and deliveries out of staff safety during the pandemic.

The group announced its news on its website Friday, saying that the decision is temporary and is meant to keep staff and guests safe during these uncertain times.

"As the severity of Covid-19 continues to escalate in Chicago, we must prioritize the safety of our guests and our staff," One Off Hospitality owners said. "It’s with this in mind that we feel it’s the right time to temporarily postpone all delivery and carry out across our restaurants. Our hope is that we can return to doing what we love sooner rather than later."

The group operates 12 restaurants in the Chicago area, including popular spots in Wicker Park, Bucktown, West Loop and the South Loop.

In lieu of food deliveries, the group is asking for donations to support its staff who have been forced out of work.
