CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Chicago Mayor-Elect Lori Lightfoot won at least a brief victory over the controversial Lincoln Yards project on Monday.
Current Mayor Rahm Emanuel agreed to end his pressure for an immediate, crucial committee vote on the North Side redevelopment.
“A delay is helpful. It allows Mayor-Elect Lightfoot to start looking through some of the issues that are out there, and questions,” Waguespack said.
But sponsoring Ald. Brian Hopkins say the private sector has already made major concessions.
“We’ve made so many significant modifications to this plan since it was introduced. And now some of the critics and opponents are using that as a reason to justify further delay.”
