(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Springfield School District has been getting a fair amount of flak from parents over a dress code for remote learning.
In particular, the handbook says students should not wear pajamas during online sessions.
“I think they have enough to worry about as opposed to what the kids are wearing. They need to make sure they’re getting educated,” parent Elizabeth Ballinger tells WCIA-TV.
The president of the Springfield Education Association agrees a dress code is at the bottom of the priority list.
“Raising the bar for all kids and helping them get there — whether they’re in their pajamas or a tuxedo — is really what’s important,” Aaron Graves said.
The school district says the student handbook has a variety of penalties for young people who break the rules, including time outs.
