12 Local Businesses To Support For Small Business Saturday

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Small Business Saturday is a chance to support local businesses around the city (which you should really be doing all the time) and hundreds of businesses are participating in this year’s shopping deals.

Check out five of our top business picks and Small Business Saturday markets to support the 10th annual shopping small celebration, sponsored by American Express.

1. Timeless Toys (Lincoln Square)

Timeless Toys just opened and are offering deals to the first 50 people who come to the store, said shopkeeper Scott Friedland. They will get a $25 gift card when they spend $50.

Friedland said supporting local businesses is important to the community and makes up the fabric in a strong way that corporate companies cannot do.

“We are the store that our employees shop at and we are the people who support your local baseball teams and schools,” Friedland told WBBM.

2. ENJOY Urban General Store (Andersonville and Lincoln Square)

From hilarious candles to cute animal baby socks to noteworthy coffee mugs, the Lincoln Square shop is all about celebrating local shoppping. The store is also celoebrating the legacy of Mister Rogers with themed holiday gifts at its new location in Andersonville. The shop is giving the first 25 customers a free Chicago Natives Swag Bag and a chance to win one of four $25 gift cards at different amounts.

3. Go Spa Chicago (Old Town)

Boutique spa Go Spa Chicago has deals through Cyber Monday with 50 percent off savings. The spa is offering a buy one get one off deal for any massage or facial. Email info@gospachicago.com to claim your deal.

4. Navy Pier (Downtown)

The Navy Pier gift shops are open this weekend and new gifts can be found at the Winter Wonder Market, open for the holidays that has all your Chicago-centric gifts for friends or yourself. The shop offers free gift wrapping with any $20 purchase from a Navy Pier merchant (limit 3 gifts to be wrapped).

5. City Lit Books and Busy Beaver Button Company (Logan Square)

Logan Square's City Lit Books and Busy Beaver Button Co. have joined forces to celebrate the 10th annual Small Business Saturday. Celebrate small businesses with free button-making, free gift wrapping.

Check out other participating businesses courtesy of the Logan Square Chamber of Commerce, which are part of a punch card system that can get you prizes for visiting numerous businesses.

6. Chicago’s 2019 Shop Small Business Saturday Craft Fair (Groveland Park)

The Absolutely Anything Essential Gift Shop of Chicago has everything you want and need, with three levels of shopping, eating, creating, learning, networking and more. More info can be found here.

When: 10 a.m.- 6 p.m.

7. Small Business Saturday Pop Up Marketplace (Hyde Park)

Join Little Black Pearl and Carver 47 along with a host of entrepreneurs and artisans as we celebrate Small Business Saturday featuring art, jewelry, clothing, hand-made candles, self-care products, and specialty gifts for men and women.

8. Small Business Saturday Limba Gal Trunk Show (Hyde Park)

Two South Side businesses, Gilda Thrift Boutique and Limba Gal, are celebrating women in business by showcasing unique jewelry designs by Jeneba and 20% off of all clothing. You can even sip wine while you shop and be classy.

9. Brown Sugar Bakery (Greater Grand Crossing)

This 15-year-old bakery is a neighborhood staple for special sweets, cobblers, pies, cookies and more. Get your hands on delicious sugary treats like sweet potato pie, bread pudding, caramel cupcakes and cheesecake for the holidays, for a birthday or just for the day — you can always go back for more.

10. Wicker Park-Bucktown's Winter Wonderland 2019 (Wicker Park)

The Wicker Park-Bucktown Chamber of Commerce has all the gears turning for a winter-themed local shopping spree. Over 30 neighborhood businesses are participating in the Window Wonderland 2019, which include shops like TOMS, Native Foods, Volumes Book cafe, urbanbelly and more. Check out the full list here and visit any of these participating stores to pick up your "passport" to get stamped for all the places you visit. Stop into nine more and be entered to WIN $50 American Express gift card. Ten Winners drawn the 1st week of January, the chamber said.

11. Life By RoGina (Local photographer)

Local photographer Rogina is offering $79 Portrait Sessions for those who book today. It is usually $200 for one session. Her company, Life By RoGina, focuses on headshots, personal and business branding for entrepreneurs and social influencers. In order to receive the discount, the session must be held before April 2020.
